Here is a video in which we introduce ourselves :

The company we chose
For our project we had to interview 2 companies. Unfortunately we weren't able to inteview 2 of them, as most of our emails to companies remained unanswered and we weren't able to visit companies due to them having to close their facilities because of Covid-19.
Exo tech is a company that manufactures industrial equipment for a variety of industries associated with energy, chemicals, oil, gas, nuclear energy, scientific research and defence.
When we visited them for our interview they showed us a presentation which they usually present to their clients and explained to us what the company did.

ECOLOGICAL MEASURES
A company can become more ecological by taking measures to protect or preserve the environment.
With 'the environment' we mean land, sea and air, so overall nature.
Measures to protect nature on land are for example: making sure nothing gets thrown out in nature, or making sure what is thrown out in nature isn’t harmful to the environment. Also reusing resources and cutting down on harvesting resources that aren’t infinite help preserve and protect the environment. Companies should also try not to harm or affect the life of any wild animals, by using land that has already been deforested or settling in a place away from nature.
Companies can also use more recyclable materials, to both encourage more customers to buy their products and to protect nature, by using less resources.
For protecting the sea and sea-life we generally talk about not throwing waste into the oceans, not using too much plastic, which can eventually end up in the sea and not harming any animals (if possible for the type of company) and especially not harming endangered animals, but also reducing CO2 emissions, as CO2 contributes to the climate change, which affects coral.
Measures to protect the air can be taken by reducing the CO2 emissions and shipping as sustainably as possible, to also reduce the CO2 emissions from transport.

EXO TECH
Jos Mols (The owner of Exo Tech) told us that he considers Exo Tech ecological because they have a number of different ecological measures they are taking or will take.
One of the measures they take is that they always try to ship to as nearby countries as possible to reduce CO2 emissions
What they advise to customers, is also an ecological measure.
They'll advise customers to try to repair their product before buying a new one, as producing new products will contribute to the climate change, which they want to avoid.
They'll also soon relocate to a place with better isolation & more eco-friendly machines.

FINAL REPORT
Introduction
Our subject for the EUMIND project was ecological companies. We have been working on it by conducting interviews with transportation companies and researching their customers. Our main goal was to see if there were companies that were ecological enough, meaning whether they have or haven’t been environmentally friendly. You will see our results in the report below.
Our interview with Exotech
We spoke to the Managing Director of Exotech, Jos Mols, as a representative for the company we interviewed. Exotech is an industrial equipment manufacturer that is active for multiple high tech companies. We got in contact with him via email and then later visited the office itself that was located in Vlissingen and spoke to him in person. The interview is to be seen below.
What does the company do?
¨It provides high equipment for a variety of industries which are chemicals, oil, gas, nuclear energy, energy, scientific research/experiments and defence¨
By who was the company founded and who is the current owner
the company is part of The Schelde and property of an American investment group
(The company was founded in 1998)
Who are the customers?
Shell, Daub, Yara, Ureco, Borealis.
Do you consider the company to be ecological and how does the company try to be as eco friendly as possible?
Yes, we consider the company ecological.
The company is using isolated rooms and applying trades with ecological companies, they advise their customers to repair an old machine of our company rather than just buying a new one. They also try to ship things to nearby countries instead of shipping things to countries that are really far away.
When did you start to introduce eco friendly measures?
Did you have to use new measures due to rules and regulation changes?
No, there was nothing changed concerning rules and regulations.
Did you have any trouble being not as eco friendly as you should be?
No, we didn't have trouble being eco friendly.
Are there any more eco friendly plans for the future?
In 2 years time the company will be settled in another place which has better isolation, more eco friendly machines etc..
Conclusion
Based on the interview with Exotech we have seen that it manufactures for high tech companies while trying to stay as eco friendly as possible. They
are planning to improve their way of dealing with being more ecological by fixing their equipment rather than buying new ones, trading and working with other ecological companies and they also ship their products to places nearby as well as also having new plans for the future. So to us the company is ecologically friendly to the environment.
India
On thursday the 10th of october we spent two lessons communicating with students in India. We asked our questions about their parts on the project and they asked theirs. Our first question was whether the companies they interviewed researched were ecological enough. Their answer was that their companies were thankfully ecological enough and based on their research most of the companies were just as eco friendly as they thought. Our second question was what their experience was with interviewing the companies, they told us that the companies that they had interviewed were as ecological as they thought and that they had no difficulty conducting the interviews and doing their research on those companies.
They also asked us some questions, one of them being what the measures were of the company that we interviewed. We told them that Exotech uses nearby trading with other companies and that it’s planning to use more eco friendly machines.
This was our report. Thanks for reading!

REPORT ON COLLABORATION
On thursday the 10th of October we spent two lessons communicating with students in India. This was through a google meet, organised by the teachers that were taking part in the EUmind project. Our connection lagged a bit, but apart from that we had no trouble communicating with them. Although our pronunciation was far from similar, we did manage understand each other and managed to answer and ask questions without problems. We asked our questions about their project and they asked their questions. Our first question was how ecological the companies they interviewed were. Their answer was that their companies were thankfully very ecological, and based on their research most of the companies were just as eco-friendly as they thought. Our second question was what their experience was with interviewing the companies, they told us that they had no difficulty conducting the interviews and doing their research on those companies. |
They also asked us some questions, one of them being what the measures were of the company that we interviewed. We told them that Exotech uses nearby trading with other companies and that it’s planning to use more eco friendly machines, and that they would relocate to a location with more ecological measures, like better isolation and machines that are better for nature by producing less CO2
Unfortunately we didn’t manage to keep contact with them after the meet, so we only talked to them then. Although this was the case, we did get some useful information and feel like we provided them with some as well. Meeting people from the other side of the world was a fun and educating experience, it gave us a good insight of how others were doing the project This was our report on collaboration. SELF-ASSESSMENT SHEET
This is our self-assessment sheet, here we graded our work and filled in what was finished and what wasn't.
COMPARISON & REFLECTION
In this document we wrote down what we think we could have improved, and we compared our work to the work of the students in India.
